Schwarzenstein Alpine Shelter

Description:

Alpine shelter on Schwarzenstein (3369) in Southtyrol. The project sits at a height of 2905m above sea level and uses the existing old shelter as protection and architectural element. Due to its extraordinary location, self-sufficiency and autonomy of energy were key factors for the building concept. The new mountain hut does not simply give protection to 40 alpinists, but due to its design also emphasizes the outlook to the surrounding mountains.
